As of July 1, 2025, based on the most recent comprehensive comparison from the 2024 BMA Municipal Study (which analyzes water and wastewater costs across Ontario municipalities for a typical residential property with 200 cubic metres of annual consumption), Ramara ranks #3 in combined annual rates.
But don't worry—thanks to the recently adopted 2025-2033 rate plan with compounded annual increases of 8% for water and 15% for wastewater, Ramara is on track to claim the #1 spot by 2028. This is not desirable!
The 2024 BMA study highlights the top 5 highest combined annual rates as follows (note: a 2025 province-wide BMA study has not been released as of this date, so these reflect the latest available comparative data):
#1: Whitewater Region – $3,075
#2: North Grenville – $2,844
#3: Ramara – $2,547
#4: Meaford – $2,463
#5: Thames Centre – $2,386
Accounting for announced rate hikes in municipal budgets, Ramara's aggressive increases (confirmed in the adopted 2025 & 2026 budgets) will push its estimated combined annual bill to around $3,892 by 2028 and Ramara will be #1 in Ontario.
These projections assume no major policy changes or emergencies, but they underscore Ramara's trajectory toward having the highest rates in Ontario.
